Cooltra is a leading Spanish company in sustainable mobility on two wheels. It emerged more than 15 years ago to facilitate urban mobility, offering scooter rentals for days. Over the years the company has been expanding its range of services to the rental of two-wheeled vehicles by the minute (motosharing and bikesharing), and renting by months, both to individuals and to companies and public administrations.

Cooltra is in 8 countries (Austria, Spain, France, Italy, Portugal, the Czech Republic, Poland and Germany), has a workforce of 400 people and a fleet of 18,000 vehicles, of which 75% are electric motorcycles that work emitting a zero footprint.

Mobility companies, like Cooltra, need to know who is going to use their vehicles to avoid risks and attribute responsibilities.

If some users could freely access the vehicles, they wouldn’t worry about taking care of them and leaving them as they were. It is important to know the client, through identity verification, and make sure they know that are responsible for their actions to avoid the misuse of scooters and bikes.

Challenge: Onboarding of new clients

Users of scooters and electric bikes by the minute are people in a hurry. They need immediate and easy-to-use solutions, they don’t want to waste time on activation processes.

For this reason, the great challenge and the great priority of Cooltra is to make the electric scooter and bicycle rental experience as comfortable and fast as possible.

When they started, they had to stick to times and manually sign up their new users (and therefore relatively long activation times). With the advancement of technology, the registration process was done through an application. Little by little they were reducing the activation time of new clients, always trying to adapt to the needs of their clients.
